Pet Care Trends
As the pet business continues to boom, several trends emerge regarding the care for our loved companions.
All Natural Pet Food & Treats
Just as many pet owners are thoughtful about their nutrition, they are also more judicious in the food for their cats and dogs. For example, Grandma Lucy's Organic Dog Treats are oven-baked, made with organic, human-quality ingredients and are USDA Organic, Certified Kosher, and Vegan.
Many older pets need joint supplements or allergy supplements to support healthy aging. An examination from a veterinarian is recommended prior to using these convenient chewable tablets. NOW Pets premium pet supplements are formulated and manufactured with the same attention to quality and detail NOW puts into their supplements intended for humans, from the sourcing of top-quality ingredients to finished product testing.
Technology
For people who are working outside of the home, you are still able to talk and offer your pet treats with the Furbo Dog Camera. This camera not only lets you see and talk to your canine companion, but it also allows you to toss treats to her when you’re not home. Used by over 5,000 vets and professional dog trainers, this camera is designed to help keep your pup safe and happy. It has night vision, a 160-degree wide-angle view day and night, a barking alert that detects when your dog is barking and can record videos!
Mobile Pet Grooming
So many industries have expanded their services to embrace today’s convenient-centric consumers and the pet industry is no exception. Many mobile pet spas allow for online booking and offer full services you would expect to find at a brick and mortar groomer such as teeth brushing, nail trimming, bathing and conditioning, dog haircuts, dog ear cleaning and more.
Insurance
Considered one of the best ways for owners to afford their pets’ more costly and unexpected medical needs, pet insurance is on the rise. According to Grand View Research, the global pet insurance market size was estimated at $3.8 billion in 2019 and was expected to reach $4.4 billion in 2020. This trend is expected to continue as pets are living longer, thus requiring more involved medical care and the advancements in veterinary technology requiring more costly medical care.
When one of our team members’ got a puppy, the dog had a chewing fixation and accidentally got a hold of one of the owner’s socks. Unfortunately, the sock got stuck and required foreign object removal surgery to remove. Luckily the owner caught it right away and had pet insurance. What would have been a $3,200+ emergency vet bill was ~ $800.
Virtual Veterinary Services
Certain services such as training may be available virtually, and while veterinarians offer phone and virtual consultations, since their patients can not tell them what is going on, physical exams and diagnostics are typically required. The history from the owners is also a key component to understanding what is occurring with the pet.
Pet-Friendly Cleaning Products
Many natural cleaning products we shared in our previous post are safe to use with kids and pets. And with more people at home than ever before, it’s important for peace of mind to keep our spaces clean and as fur-free as possible. Daily low-grade tidying makes cleaning once a week or once a month less overwhelming and using products to help with refreshing the air and lint removal can help keep you home smelling fresh and clean.
